From the Principal’s Desk: Week of March 10th, 2008

Published by palliende at 8:59 am under Announcements

I hope you all had an incredible weekend. The weather was magnificent. Friday afternoon, we drove to Medford to see our daughter and family. This is always a great time as 4 and 5 year old Grandchildren make everything fun. I am always intrigue with their creative minds as a simple stick can become an airplane, gun, or a magic wand. All things are possible when you are four. Saturday evening, my son-in-law gave me a book he had just finished reading. He told me it was a quick read so I should be able to finish it in a couple hours. The book was titled, The Janitor: How an Unexpected Friendship Transformed a CEO and His Company by Todd Hopkins and Ray Hilbert. The book was a quick read, however, I hope its content will stay with me much long. The ideas and thoughts are so powerful, so I will be sharing them with you over the next six Mondays.

You have all heard the directives before yet they are worth hearing again, again and again.

The first directive is Recharge versus discharge.

In the work we do, we discharge are energy from the moment we walk in the school door until we finish grading that last paper at night. Day in and day out we spend enormous amount of energy teaching and supporting learning. To truly be effective we must all recharge and have something to give. Others have called it “refilling our bucket, taking care of one self.” To be in good health and have the stamina to teach and support our students we must be well charge.
